The Ottawa South Weekender, originally named Ottawa Carleton This Month, was established in 1978. The weekly newspaper was redesigned in 2000 to better serve the areas of Osgoode and Rideau Wards, the growing community of Riverside South, and Winchester.
The Manotick Review, which was originally combined with the Kemptville Advance, was established in 1980 and delivered the news independently each week to Manotick, North Gower, Kars, Metcalfe, Greely, Vernon and Osgoode Village. In 2006, it merged with the Ottawa South Weekender to become the only free weekly community newspaper to serve its communities.
A unique newspaper within Metroland’s Ottawa Region Media Group, the OSW is dedicated to covering political and rural issues, community events and sports within three rural wards, spanning a 3500 km radius. The OSW also has strong ties to community leaders and service groups, including the Rural Council of Ottawa Carleton, District Nine Firefighters, The Lions Club and several community associations.
